Managing my dissertation like a year-long project was one of the best decisions I made. I used a tool called the One Page Project Manager (OPPM) and used it as a Dissertation Project Manager. For an introduction Video Click Here.

Dissertation (1)

I split the Dissertation Project into three sections:

1) Dissertation Proposal

Chapters 1, 2, 3 and preparing for the Dissertation Proposal Hearing

2) Data Collection

Phases of data collection and preparation for data interpretation

3) Analysis and Conclusions

Chapters 4, 5, 6 and preparation for editing and submission

I listed 40 tasks that needed to be accomplished over the course of the year. Each task corresponded with a month in the year in which it should be completed in order to complete the Dissertation in the proposed time frame.

I shared this plan with my Dissertation Committee Chair and we used it as a discussion point during our monthly check-ins. It kept me accountable and showed her where I was faced with challenges and in what areas I needed additional coaching or learning.

I highly recommend using this strategy for tackling the Dissertation Project!
